Michael Liu

Biography:

Based in California US, Michael Liu has been actively involved in San
Francisco’s electronic dance music scene for over a quarter century now. A
fan of electronic music when New Wave and industrial were prominent in the
80s, it was only natural for Michael to be drawn to the frequencies of goa
trance/psychedelic trance of the 90s. In 1997, Michael began DJing regularly
at underground parties in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Greater Los
Angeles Area. This quickly led to bookings across the country for events of
all sizes, from clubs to outdoor festivals, and has been non-stop since.
During this time, Michael also began organizing events to help bring
psytrance to the fans of the genre. While there have been too many late
night one-off parties to name, it’s Michael’s monthly psytrance night, Secret
Psychedelica, that continues to keep pushing the cutting edge sounds of
psychedelic music in San Francisco even to this day.
With over 25 years of experience behind the decks and inspiration drawn
from hundreds of club and late night events that he has organized, Michael’s
sets have consistently pleased longtime fans and new listeners alike while
always leaving them asking for more. His thought that every booking is
unique leads to unparalleled journeys that are a reflection of the event and
allow for a deeper connection to those on the dance floor.
As the year 2023 begins, Michael will represent Maharetta Records as one
of their label DJs. Expect his sets to include massive tunes from the label
while still delivering dynamic audio journeys for your mind and body. Also be
on the look out for Maharetta artists to perform at Secret Psychedelica
through the year.
