AZGEIR

Azgeir is the psychedelic trance project of Petur, an artist with deep roots in the Scandinavian underground scene. The name Azgeir comes from ancient Norse and means “god spear,” reflecting both the sharp impact of his sound and his connection to ancestral energy through music.

Petur’s journey began at the age of 14, when he bought his first CDJs with a friend and started DJing at school parties—spinning Eurodisco and Eurotrance from acts like Antiloop and Earthbound. His tastes quickly evolved, first discovering artists like Yahel, and soon after, diving into the expansive world of psytrance.

A pivotal moment came in 2002, when he attended his first outdoor psytrance gathering, Trolltyg, deep in the Swedish forest. The experience was transformative, igniting a lifelong love for psychedelic culture. From that point on, he immersed himself in the open-air scene, attending and contributing to as many gatherings as possible.

In 2006, Petur organized his first event, Aura Open Air, which also marked the beginning of a lasting connection with psytrance pioneer Dennis Tapper (HuxFlux). Since then, Azgeir has been involved in organizing numerous parties and festivals across Sweden, working with various collectives and pushing the local scene forward.

As a DJ, Azgeir explores a wide range of psychedelic electronic music—flowing effortlessly from deep daytime grooves to high-energy nighttime journeys. His sets are known for their versatility, storytelling, and ability to connect with the dancefloor on a deep, intuitive level.

Azgeir has performed at countless events and festivals throughout Sweden, sharing stages with some of the biggest names in the global psytrance scene. His international appearances include gigs in Barcelona, Chile, Norway, and Denmark, spreading his unique sound and energy beyond borders.

With a passion rooted in community, nature, and transcendence through sound, Azgeir continues to inspire and evolve as a powerful force in the psychedelic underground.
